Right Back In It

August 22nd, 2014 in entertainment, health, mental-health by Betty

…and for what? One of the nice things — perhaps the only nice thing — about having such a little-noticed blog is that so few people see it when I need to get something off my chest.

Let’s Blame Everything on Winter

January 16th, 2013 in entertainment, family, health, mental-health by Betty

For the past couple of weeks, I have been appallingly unproductive in the writing and content creating department. Sure, I have posted about my new weekly baking challenge (two whole weeks in!) but that’s about it. In fact, I guess I have been on this productivity downward spiral since right before Christmas.

The Benefits of Human Hair Wigs

November 26th, 2012 in entertainment, fashion, health, health-fitness, illness-disease, mental-health, shopping by Betty

Growing up, my hair was always very long. By the ninth grade, it fell to my waist and I still distinctly remember how it feels to get your hair stuck in those horrible desks attached to plastic chairs that looked like they came from the turn of the century and were always cracked in at least three different places. Every person who had long hair in school, high school particularly, will undoubtedly have residual anxiety from getting their hair stuck in the back of those terrible chairs

8 Classic Over-the-Top Films About Mental Illness

September 19th, 2012 in books-authors, entertainment, fashion, health, health-fitness, mental-health by Betty

From the early days of cinema to the blockbusters of today, the tone of films about mental illness have ranged from wildly histrionic ( What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? ) to hopelessly grim ( Shutter Island ). That doesn’t mean such films are necessarily bad; on the contrary, many are groundbreaking examples of the genre, whose stars (such as Joan Crawford in Possessed ) attempt to channel the experience of an individual suffering from mental illness

Book Review: “The Lust Garden” by Billy Jolie

August 28th, 2012 in books-authors, celebrity-gossip, entertainment, health-fitness, illness-disease, mental-health by Betty

It’s very easy to see the allure of the lives led by the Hollywood elite when you’re an outsider looking in through the peephole that is the paparazzi and celebrity news. Our society is so enamored with celebrities because often all we see is the money they have, the extravagant houses, cars, designer clothes, and whatever else they want that can be bought at the drop of a hat, and the power that derives from it all.
