December 15th, 2014 in crafts, entertainment, gardening, health by Betty

This is coming out way late on Sunday night. I’m sorry! I have written about my life on occasion here, but for those who don’t know, I live with health issues that result in chronic pain. Anyone with chronic pain can tell you that when you have a bad day, it is a Bad

The key is not to allow your struggle to become your identity.

October 5th, 2014 in entertainment, gardening by Betty

Good timber does not grow with ease. The stronger the winds, the stronger the trees. I started this blog about organic gardening, learning different methods of food storage and living a simpler life….As most of you know, I love inspirational sayings and poems.

Sundays are for Sharing: Running Safety, Beach Cupcakes, Ocean Themed Crafts & More

July 6th, 2014 in crafts, entertainment, gardening, health by Betty

Fellow bloggers, I want to support you in what you’re doing! Every week I round up some of my favorite blog posts and invite you to do the same. Link up your posts at the bottom! Running is a great way to stay in shape, stress less, and boost bone health, but it can also be dangerous if you are a long-distance runner or like to jog through your neighborhood. Runners, walkers, and cyclists are at a high risk for being injured and even killed by motorists

Alumni Lunch

May 3rd, 2014 in entertainment, gardening by Betty

I went to lunch this week with all the “retired” teachers from Nerinx. Most are truly retired and spend their days doing the things that most retirees do – reading, gardening, traveling, playing with grandchildren, etc. But a few, like me, just can’t seem to give it up and keep their hand in at some …

Happy International Women’s Day! Spotlighting Phenomenal Women Who Have Inspired Our Readers

March 8th, 2013 in entertainment, family, gardening, health, vibrators by Betty

Happy International Women’s Day, everyone! This day is very much my sorta kinda Mother’s Day; or, as I have seen it referred to on Twitter , “the feminist equivalent of Christmas.” A very good friend of mine called me this morning to wish me a Happy International Women’s Day. She reminded me that today is my day; and it is

Sundays are for Sharing: ’90s Kids are Old, Holiday Bark Recipes, Sleep-Texting, and More!

March 3rd, 2013 in entertainment, gardening, recipes, shopping, television by Betty

After quite the hiatus from our regularly-scheduled Sundays are for Sharing posts (sorry about that!) I am back to putting together these little lists of blog posts I have read throughout the week, totally loved, and wanted to share with all of you. You would think that these posts would be the easiest to get up on a regular basis; and you would be right. I’m just a chronic procrastinator

5 Small Steps for Making a Big Leap into a Green Lifestyle

November 8th, 2012 in entertainment, family, fashion, gardening, green-living, health, health-fitness, home-food, nutrition, shopping by Betty

It was in the mid-1800s when American author Henry David Thoreau wrote, “What is the use of a house if you don’t have a decent planet to put it on?” That question is just as valid today as it was nearly two centuries ago; perhaps even more so. I can’t speak for others, but I want to give the future generation a healthier planet than the one left to me by generations of the past

3 Dream Locations I’d Love to Live if Money Were No Object

September 3rd, 2012 in entertainment, family, gardening, home-food, relationships, weddings by Betty

Even if you love where you live–the neighborhood, the people whom you have connected and formed relationships with, the house that you have made into a home with all of the familiar comforts you don’t even want to think about living without–we all have those dream places we can’t help but romanticize in our heads about having the chance to live in, at least for a few years before moving onto the next. It has nothing to do with being unhappy with where you’re at or wanting something different in life; you could in fact be very happy and look forward to living your life everyday just exactly where you are, but it’s still fun to think about the what-ifs and what you would do and where you would go if nothing was holding you back. In most cases, what holds most of us back is money; so let’s pretend money isn’t a factor and take an imaginary stroll around the world.

all® mighty pacs™ Review and Laundry Prize Pack Giveaway

August 28th, 2012 in entertainment, family, gardening, home-food, music by Betty

Household chores have a tendency to bring on bouts of dread and procrastination, but they are a necessary evil. Laundry is one household chore that I don’t mind doing in the least; in fact, I find it quite relaxing.
